High thin clouds top the summit of Mount Denali in early summer. Late spring is peak climbing season on Denali, with most groups attempting the West Buttress route on the south side of the mountain. While the north side of the park in summer can be warm, to 80 degrees, with abundant mosquitoes and wildflowers, climbers on Denali experience snow, frequent high winds, and winter-like temperatures that may drop to -30F, or colder. Revealed here are Pioneer Ridge, on the right center, and Karstens Ridge, on the left, bisected by the Harper Icefall and Harper Glacier.
