A harbor seal rises out of the water, “spy-hops”, to view a passing boat. Harbor seals are spotted and vary in color from white to black. Harbor seals can weigh over 250 pounds and yet are fast, excellent swimmers. They are found in both salt water and fresh water, often travelling up streams into lakes in pursuit of spawning salmon, an important food.
