Harbor Seal, Alaska #7205

Description

A harbor seal rests on a kelp-covered rock in an inlet on the Alaska Peninsula. Dozens of harbor seals had gathered there to prey on salmon passing into a narrow stream to spawn. Orcas, or killer whales, passed by seeking their prey, harbor seals and sealions. Seals sought safety out of the water. Predator-prey relationships span the gamut from large to small organisms.
