Description
An orca whale, also known as a killer whale, rises in the stern wake of an Alaska fishing boat. Two kinds of orcas live in Alaska waters, residents which feed on fish, and transients which hunt marine mammals for food. Orcas live in matriarchal groups which include related mature males and calves. Orcas are the second fastest marine mammal, reaching maximum speeds of nearly 35 mph (30 knots.)
