Highway Pass, at 3,980′ is the highest pass along the Denali National Park Road. Highway Pass was named by park pioneers for the herds of caribou that once passed through but also because it was the road location. Early autumn snows here sometimes closes the park road to vehicular travel. The pass offers wide sweeping tundra and mountain vistas.
