Brown Bear Cubs Playing, Brooks River, Alaska #0337

Description

Brown Bears cubs playing on riverbank, Brooks River, Katmai National Park, Alaska. Brown bears can vary in color from a light-cream to a dark, almost-black, color. Some dark-colored brown bears have been mistaken for their smaller cousins, the American black bear. One of these two cubs is unusually light-colored, almost white. Born in the den the previous winter, the autumn cubs are not yet a year old but have grown large on the bountiful red salmon that run in Brooks River.
