Description
In mid-summer a young male Alaska Brown bear wanders through a field of fireweed. Earlier in the day this bear had been fishing for salmon at McNeil Falls but had been displaced by larger males. It spent the remainder of the day grazing through the fields of fireweed or sleeping in a sand pit it excavated. The bear is shedding but within a few short weeks, its hair coat will begin to grow back in preparation for winter.
