The northern lights, or the aurora borealis, are beautiful dancing ribbons of light that have captivated people for centuries. Aurora Borealis is derived from the Greek words “Aurora” meaning “sunrise” and “Boreas” meaning “wind”. Auroral activity wanes and waxes on an approximately 12-year-cycle with peak activity creating spectacular light shows.
