Arctic Refuge Caribou, Sunset Pass #3732

Description

A caribou leads her calf along a ridge at sunset in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge, also called ANWR, is an important part of the range of the 200,000-strong Porcupine Caribou Herd. The herd takes its name from the Porcupine River and roams a huge swath of land in Alaska and Canada’s Yukon. Calves are born on the arctic coast beginning in May.
