Description
Brown bears possess a remarkable sense of smell. In evening light, an Alaska brown bear stopped moving long enough for a picture. An errant breeze captured the bear’s attention, and it lifted its head to study the scented air. Other bears had been in the area feeding on salmon. Perhaps it smelled one of them or the aroma of fish. The momentary pause allowed the photographer to capture this portrait. The bear soon moved on.
