Alaska Brown Bear and Cub, McNeil River Alaska, #1943V
Alaska Brown Bear and Cub, McNeil River Alaska, #1943V
$25.00 – $255.00
Description
Alaska brown bear and cub at McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. Years ago, varied age groups of brown bears fished at the McNeil River Falls for salmon. Females with cubs mixed warily with large males that primarily stayed on the far side of the river. In the recent past, large males, who have grown accustomed to human bear viewers, have dominated both sides of the river. Even at the peak of the salmon run, many moms with cubs can be found on the sedge flats or on the tidal flats fishing in less preferred places. Distancing keeps their cubs safe from larger, aggressive males.
