Description
A young male wolf in early winter. Wolves live in family groups, called packs. Sometimes, due to food shortages or social pressures within the pack, wolves strike out on their own. These “dispersers'” as they are termed by biologists, face many perils, including attack by wolves defending territories. Often starvation exacts a toll as a lone wolf is no match for larger prey animals like a moose.
