Short-tailed Weasel in Summer, Alaska #7555
Weasel, Short-tailed, Summer, Alaska #7555
Price range: $25.00 through $255.00
Description
Short-tailed weasels turn white in winter and then are called ermine. These tiny predators hunt rodents of all kinds and have been seen attacking much larger prey such as ground squirrels or snowshoe hares. They use abandoned burrows dug by other animals like ground squirrels or dig their own dens or use other shelters, such as rock piles, stumps, or hollow logs. Because of their high-energy metabolism, nesting chambers are packed with insulation, usually fur, grasses, and feathers gathered for the purpose.
