Description
Horseshoe Lake is an iconic short hike location in Denali National Park. A wooded peninsula juts into the lake forming a horseshoe shape as viewed from above. A large beaver dam impounds much of the water, with a total of seven varied-sized dams on the outlet stream before it reaches the Nenana River. Decades of beaver occupancy and use has greatly diminished the deciduous trees that they feed upon. Consequently, beavers are sometimes present, sometimes not.
