Dall Sheep Ram, Alaska #12423

Description

Dall sheep ram, curl and one-quarter horns, autumn, Denali National Park, Alaska. Rams this size are uncommon and may be nearing the end of their lives, about age 12. Many dominant rams break off their horn tips during autumnal battles, but this big ram’s horns are intact. Some rams break, or “broom”, their horn tips in fierce head-to-head clashes. The largest rams do most of the breeding each year.
