Common Loon and Chick, Alaska #0422
Common Loon and Chick, Alaska #0422
$25.00 – $255.00
Description
A baby common loon rides on its mother’s back on a tranquil Kenai Peninsula Lake. Once the newly hatched chicks take to the water, they will ride on an adult’s back for several days. Although they can swim immediately after hatching, it is thought the close contact helps the chicks stay warm and also safe from predators. Both adults feed the chicks and take turns caring for them
