Description
Igloo Mountain in early September displays the first autumn snow. This prominent 4800′ peak is a landmark along the Denali National Park Road. A pioneer travelers’ “igloo” made from a thick tripod of saplings is supposedly the source of the name. Some viewers see the layers of rock as reminiscent of a familiar ice igloo. A setting moon lingers over the mountain’s right flank.
