Humpback Whale Bubble Net Feeding #0081-2

Description

Humpback whales employ a variety of methods to capture large quantities of small fishes. One method is bubble net feeding, a cooperative effort involving several whales. A group of whales circling below a school of fishes, usually herring, emit a ring of bubbles, trapping the fish within. The whales then rise through the bubbe net, gulping down the school of herring.
