Grizzly Bear in Spring, Alaska #4296

Soon after emerging from hibernation, Interior Alaska grizzly bears are hungry and go in search of any food they can find. Green-up is still many days away and bears dig roots and devour berries left from the previous autumn, or anything else they can find. This young adult grizzly bear avidly dug roots and was photographed as he paused from devouring a tender and nutritious root.
