Description

McGonagall Pass, bottom center, leads upward and onto the Muldrow Glacier, the north climbing route to the summit of Mount Denali. The pass was named for Charlie McGonagall, a prospector, and a participant of the 1910 Sourdough Climb, which reached the North Peak of Denali. Although the south summit of the mountain is higher, the pioneer climbers completed a more difficult ascent of the North Peak. Both the North and South Peaks are visible on this clear spring day.
