Cow Moose Winter Alaska, #8660

Cow Moose Winter, Alaska #8660

A cow moose browsing winter willows, the most important food source for moose year-round. In Alaska, moose eat up to 50 pounds of browse a day and willows often make up the bulk of it. Moose reach up with their long necks and heads to nip of the nutritious dried willow stems and twigs. Winter is the testing time in the Far North, with frigid cold and deep snow a challenge for moose.
