Description
A black bear cub peers from around the trunk of a cottonwood tree in Southcentral Alaska, A warning from the mother bear sent her two cubs up a tree for safety from an approaching bear wandering the salmon stream. The mother bear stayed on the ground at the foot of the refuge tree and successfully stared down the larger black bear as it passed. A pink salmon run had lured the bears to the stream.
