Description
Marten spend much of their time in the tree canopy and are agile climbers. They can run upside down on limbs in their pursuit of tree squirrels. American marten are opportunistic feeders. Their diet consists primarily of squirrels and rodents, as well as fruit, nuts, insects, and carrion. They occasionally kill birds, especially spruce grouse.
