This isn't much of a photo, a cow elk at peace in the woods, Yellowstone Park, April, 1969, but it is my earliest existing willdife image. A $70 camera, a $35 lens, on Tri-X film. I am still proud of it because of the supreme caution I took approaching the animal in order not to scare or disturb it. Images of reclining animals may be dull but I like them because they are so emblematic of a lack of disturbance or harassment.
